The Whitsunday Islands

Westerners discovered The Whitsunday Islands in 1770 by Captain James Cook. They are some of the most beautiful islands that we have ever seen. Combining the azure blue ocean with lush green foliage, the 74 Whitsunday Islands are a must see in Northern Queensland.

There are many ways one can see the by airplane, by sailboat, or by motorboat.

You can enter the Whitsundays via the party favorite's Ali Beach, the ultra exclusive Hayman Island, or the laid back Hamilton Island.

When you go to the Whitsundays, be sure to take a flight tour over the Great Barrier Reef and experience the Heart Reef.

Or maybe even take a boat out and snorkel or dive the Reef itself. Either will have you talking about the experience for years to come.

BBC has ranked Whitehaven Beach as one of the most ten beautiful beaches in the world. Others say that it is the most beautiful in the world. The sand on Whitehaven Beach is so white; it might be some of the whitest sand that you have ever seen. That is because the sand on Whitehaven is almost 100% silica sand stretching almost 7 kilometers.

Sailing around the 74 islands of the Whitsundays is one of those life-long memorable experiences. If you can, get a smaller, more intimate boat rather than the bigger party boats. We think you will enjoy your experience better.

We went to Hamilton Island and firstly, it is a great place to relax on the Great Barrier Reef. It is also the largest inhabited island of the Whitsundays. We like to keep active, so we took advantage of the many activities off the island.

If you are a bit wealthy or are looking for an ultra exclusive location to go in Australia, check out Hayman Island. Hayman is a small island, but is world famous for being ultra expensive, but exclusive for the rich and famous to seek haven. There is a resort on the island, which is said to be one of the best, and there are some residences as well, but not too many. Most fly into Hamilton Island and are ushered by yacht to Hayman.

For the younger generation, we say stick to sailing the Whitsunday Islands or hanging out on Hamilton Island.
