Uluru

Visiting Uluru is quite an amazing experience. Basically, Uluru is a ginormous red rock in the middle of the outback. There are many ideas on how the rock got where it is today. Scientist study things to death, so we will give you the traditional beliefs on how Uluru came to be.

The Aboriginals say that when the earth was being created, spirits help form the surface of the globe.

Some spread themselves all over the earth, while some, in Uluru's case, stayed put in one place. So, tradition says that a spirit formed Uluru.

At the base, Uluru is 9.4 km in circumference and Uluru is 348 meters above the outback, and 863 meters above sea level. This area is bone dry, too, only receiving about 307 millimeters of rain a year.

Today, the rock is one of Australia's top sites to see.

First, let us say, that the Aboriginal people explicitly ask that visitors do not climb Uluru. In recent history, over thirty people have died climbing Uluru. The climb is not forbidden; there is a walking track with literally, chains to help you get up the Uluru.

There is something very interesting about the Australian Outback that you will experience while at Uluru. It is the red earth. You might feel like you are on Mars! Now, "Why is the outback red," you might ask? Well, the earth here is rich in iron.

The sun and other weather conditions make the ground a deep dark red. The Australian Outback is an adventure that we sincerely recommend. You have the hot urban centers of Surfer's Paradise and Sydney, but you really have not been to the real Australia if you have not been in the outback.

If you are experiencing the Australian Outback with someone you deeply care about, a romantic interest of sorts, experience the sunset over Uluru. Then take him or her to a nice dinner. But here is when the good part comes in : the stars in the outback are amazing. With the largest town five hours away, there are no lights. For a moment, you and your loved one can gaze up at the beautiful constellations, hold each other close, and dream of the great times to come.

Being at Uluru for sunrise is a beautiful. We woke up at 5:00am to experience the sunrise. As the sun rises, you get an amazing view of the soul of the Australian Outback. We think you should go to The Olga Mountains and see the sun rise. That way you get a view of the Olga Mountains and Uluru at the same time.

Some do not want to wake up super early to see the sunrise. Sunset(,) though, that's what you should see. Hundreds of folks every day flock to the vantage points to see the sun set on the Outback and Uluru. Families get together... it is really a neat experience. Or, this is another great opportunity to take your date out to a secluded spot in the outback to watch the sun set and then stay out and watch the stars together.
